Some one put a rather large Hercules beetle on my back while having breakfast in the chow hall during my last visit to Costa Rica. This beetle was the size of my fist and was making her way up to my neck, before she was removed….and set outside on her merry way back into the jungle!
Of course an empty coconut shell makes for a little hide away and napping place, so this toad thought! I paused long enough to get a photo op and then continued my hike without disturbing him from his summer slumber!
And lastly, what is a jungle hike without seeing a poision dart frog. This species makes an incredible noise for such a little fellow. Just don’t try to kiss this one…it may be your last!
